Watch for Media Bias :: Werner For Oregon

It used to be that you could pick up the newspaper or watch a news program on television to get the daily news in an unbiased, informative manner. That is no longer the case, even in our tucked away corner of the world.

Start counting how many times my opponents get favorable coverage (also known as push pieces) in the media. Also notice how I am ignored or marginalized in that same coverage. Observe how many times my opponents’ pictures appear and my picture is not displayed.

The fact is the local media, like the national media, is liberally biased. This is why the local media will promote and advocate for my opponents. Why? Because they are not constitutional conservatives, and I am. They believe a stronger, more powerful State and National government is the way to peace and prosperity. I do not. Like the Founders I believe that a limited government is the only way to ensure our natural rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That is why my campaign slogan, “Your Liberty First” is more than just a slogan — it is a guiding philosophy and reminder that the people come first, not the government.

Therefore next time you see one of my opponents smiling on the television or gracing the front page of the local paper, remember, the media has an agenda, and it is not an agenda for your liberty.
